I have two cats, Tasha and Little Bit. Tasha is technically my husband's cat but she loves me more. She is 13 years old and was resuced my mother in law when she was a kitten, she found her in a burlab sack and had been burned and was thrown in a creek. She took it to her son who nursed it back to health and she has been around ever since then. Before we got together she was mean as a snake and unless you petted her like you would a dog then you might as well not touch her. Since I have been around she has come to like the more gentle touch.
Little Bit or Bit as we call her now, well she is my red-neck kittie. She was also rescued. Her mother brought her and her three brothers and sisters to our front porch when they were little and she some how got stuck under neath the house, so I pulled her out and she was the most loving of all the other cats. When we had to move we had to get rid of the kittens but I refused to get rid of her. She is will be two next month. She likes to play with her dry turds and drink out of the toilet. She is wild but loves to lay on my side or chest and sleep.
I have no childern of my own so they are mine kids. I bought my self a mother's day present from my cats. It is a mug that says "Womena and cats should do what they want. Men and dogs should get over it."
Welcome to the group. I've got 4 cats. One is 14 I got him at 8 months old from a friend who was looking for a new home for him as he was hand reared, thought he was the baby of the house and when husband was away at sea shared the bed with her, when hubby came home there would be territorial fights over the bed !!!! she got pregnant and wasn't sure how we would react to a baby taking her attention away and didn't want to chance it.
I got Spice who is now 11 to keep him company as I worked shifts and he was used to other cats around.
Then when me and my now wife got together she never had a kitten and wanted one so we got Penny who is now 6 years old. My two would ignore her and she got lonely, so yep we got a playmate for her. Speckles would be coming up to her 6th birthday, unfortunately we lost her following complications after a cesarean section last year. She had 2 kittens, and Penny took them on and looked after them, as well as the 3 she had a few days later. We decided to keep on of Speckles kittens, the one that was born by C-section and called him Lucky. He got this name as when we took her to the vet after she had one, he said she had 2 more in her and both would be dead, however he was a fighter and survived.
Like you we don't have any children of our own (yet) and these four our our babies. It hit us hard when we lost Speckles as we were on honeymoon at the time 3,000+ miles away.
Tigger is an old man, starting to have problems cleaning himself, wheezing a lot and just mainly wanting to sleep, so we know the inevitable will be coming soon. Just not looking forward to it. Giving him all the attention he wants and lots of treats etc, making the most of the time we do have together.
