Caring Parents of Estranged Adult Children Community Group
We have given our lives to our children and they reject us. We still love them but this love is now frozen in time. How do we deal with the resulting chaos of our lives? We talk and we listen to one another as we cope with this loss and assault on our sensibilities. Respect in our thinking and language are a must.
As a believer, I understand exactly what you are saying. But, for those of different faiths, I wish they could also realize the truth behind those words. I usually do not know what is happening behind the scenes but in many cases, what I discovered was it was nothing like I had imagined.
I recall my diL telling me years ago that there was a man my ES worked with that was a Christian. She told me the man was not all preachy around my ES, which would have definitely turned him off, but he just was a really nice guy, good work ethics and my ES liked him and they became somewhat close until he was transferred. Although I was praying that someone would come into my ES's life and be a good example, I had no idea that it was actually happening until years later. This man was actually instrumental in my son taking his family to church. Unfortunately, church didn't last long but wanted to share the incident.
The sad refrain is, for those who do not have a faith, they are unable to ".....walk by faith and not by sight." I could my blessings in the midst of my storms.
