Caring Parents of Estranged Adult Children Community Group
We have given our lives to our children and they reject us. We still love them but this love is now frozen in time. How do we deal with the resulting chaos of our lives? We talk and we listen to one another as we cope with this loss and assault on our sensibilities. Respect in our thinking and language are a must.
I wonder if there is different hope. When our adult children discard us and even hoping changes nothing, is there a different hope?
Can we maybe hope that we will heal and come to accept that our adult children do not want us in their life? Can we begin to hope that we will be able to move forward with our lives and leave our adult children behind - not because we no longer care, but because they do not want to move ahead from their estrangement?

This is not to criticize my eDIL exactly, but her parenting skills were scary at best.. she was young or maybe just very immature.. but those three girls have turned out to be quite grounded, so says DD and it seems so from what I've seen. Now the oldest is going to be a senior in high school, and we missed out on so many years.. maybe it was meant to be.
Yes, we can heal. We have scars, but healing does take place. Good thoughts.
