How was Christmas for your members?

I'm just curious to hear from other CL's how Christmas went for your members in your groups.  In my PTSD group, it went better than expected, I'm happy to say.  I was worried, as I posted about here leading up to the Christmas holiday, about some of my members who were returning for family Christmases to the dysfunctional family settings that traumatized them in the first place. 


I have yet to hear back from one in particular who may come back re-traumatized from one such visit, but over all there haven't been as many emergencies among my members as I thought there might be.  How about on your sites?  


Also, how do you anticipate that New Year's is going to go for your members?

For me, a lot of new posters, and those family visits ... less than what most feared.

New Years, a whole ball of wax heated due to liquor... and feelings of "new beginnings" along with fear of both...

Mid, we've had a lot of new posters, too. Some hotline starting referring people to DS PTSD. Is that what's going on with folks coming to you, too?

Must be, I'm seeing posts like I've never seen before, and some of them, it's all I can do to reply in short, sweet, and simple sentences.

I wish you the best with the changes, It's been a challenge for me.

Yeah, I try to give new members a welcome, too, no matter how short. And I always approve friend requests. Just had two more yesterday.

One long term member I'd been worrying about checked in yesterday. She's been inpatient lots over the years, but has set a record for going 7 months without being inpatient, so I'm really proud of her. She managed a visit home with family and is OK now.

Yes I've seen a few new posters which is great on a couple of boards that I go to now....

I'm hoping for some newbys on the BP board

The PTSD board has some new people that have been coming back so that's great

I think the holidays can be tough for people ... and I see that DS can be a big help for them even if it's just to vent

Depression is typically busy. Truthfully, I can't keep up with much encouragement. Too many people on sinking ships.

Sorry to hear that, WanderingVet. That's got to be rough.

Of our new members on DS PTSD, SunCloud, we just had a new member say she felt safe enough on our site to come out of the closet. It was nice to hear.

The bereavement board is pretty down right now, but then the holidays are hard when you have "recently" lost a loved one. But there tends to be an attitude amongst most that they will get through it.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
