I suffered my SAH shortly before midnight on 12/10/09. I returned to my job as a second grade teacher on 1/22/10. Actually that Friday was a release day for the kids but I thought it would be better to return then and have a day to prepare for my class rather than to begin the following Monday (1/25/10). My neurosurgeon agreed. I have been told that six weeks is the minimum time I would have been allowed to return to work and that is not the norm.

Let's see.. my official admittance date to the hospital was 12/11/09 and my release date was 12/22/10. Except for "tiny bits and pieces", I have little memory of the first six days in the hospital. Memory doesn't seem to have been in normal working order until sometime on December 17th.

Hi there, my aneurysm ruptured on September 19, 2009. I returned to work on January 3rd, 2010 but since my 2nd followup appointment last week have gone off work again. My memory is not good and my temperment has changed. It is very difficult but I have been referred to a nero psycologist to do cognitive testing. From what I have heard it helps alot. Having someone to talk to should be great also. Wishing you happiness and health.

I found out April 29 that i had an anurism, it was 7 mm behind my right eye. I had surgery May 12. the surgery went well. Had two strokes after surgery. another week will be two monts for me. I am suspose to go back to work in two weeks. I am worried that I will have problems. I take it a day at a time, have good days and bad days.

Most doctors want you to return to work so that they can better assess your situation. My annie was in September, I returned to work in January and left again in June due to memory issues. I just finished a round of testing with the neuropsycologist and am awaiting the test results. I am confident that I did not do well on the memory portion of the testing but won't have the results for a while..
Give it a try, if you do well that would be awesome. If you can't do it, don't. Its not worth the added stress.

I suffered SAH last March of this year. I'm back to work since June. That's when I realized that I should have taken more time off work. I'm struggling at work right now-have to re-learn things and build my self confidence again, not very easy. Take more time as you please. I think, I came back to work so quickly.

I too suffered a SAH,, I returned to work 4 months later..I at times have problems remembering things,,but when given time I do recall most things..

My surgery was in September, 1998. (Three clips). I returned to work as a College Registrar within 6 months, part time. I was very tired and it was very slow going for a while. My short term memory was (still is) a problem. I made it back to full time within two years. Even with my memory problem (learning disability), in 2003, I started a four year Master's Degree (my second) and changed careers. I graduated in the top 10% of my class in 2007. IT CAN BE DONE!!! I make a lot of lists - use a date book which I call my second brain - and never underestimate what can be accomplished. (PS I still like to take afternoon naps! - what a habit! )

Im a landscaper in Hawaii and I know I returned to work too early... I had a few visit to the ER since my rupture, the doctor said the best thing we can do is to exercise and do things so our brain can basically rewire itself, they say listen to your body, I still get dizzy spells and blurry vision but Im going to continue to fight back but I go periods with out working... good luck with everything and god bless!

Its nearly 7 years ago since this happened to me, I was in denial about what I was capable of, went back to a physical job working with horses after 6/7 weeks, didnt last two minutes! Was on light duties for about 4 weeks but had to leave in the end. Not only did I have to deal with the trauma of a rupture and coiling etc, I had to give up the job I loved, got depressed for awhile, not severe but enough to wonder what I was supposed to do for the rest of my life, the fatigue and short term memory loss was irritating the hell out of me. Anyway, I got another job a couple of months later after a rest, and took it easy for a few months....the memory loss gets better, it all gets better but you're never fully ok for about 4 - 5 years, but it does get better :)

It has been just over 14 years since my SAH. The rupture was on July 27 (a Monday) with clipping surgery the same day. I was released from the hospital on Saturday and was allowed to go back to work half-days 5 weeks after that and full time a couple of weeks later. It wasn't easy to start with, but things got better over time.

I think it really does help to do things that take concentration. My main form of rehab when I got home from the hospital was playing Solitaire on the computer.

No way can I work to tired good luck on your disability claim I am also on my appeal. Tnttnt22 what is your day like? I just do small chores then rest its so depressing.
