My parents kept me at home or rather mostly by my mom. Being stuck at home all the time with NO previous social interaction made the first days at school terrifying.
That might just be one more facet of why I have stayed for the most part alone most of my life.
I do remember first grade I was so scared the first day, I just sit in my chair and wet my pants cause I didnt know where the bathroom was or what to do. This big lady was standing up there talking and thats all I remember.
I went to country school ... Four rooms, 1 - 6 Got beat with books Guess if ya didn't read em ~ ya got them one way or another!
My mom got me a fake elastic watch. Some kid in the reading circle asked me what time it was BOOM I got hit on the head with the SEE SPOT RUN! Didn't come to until EIGHTH GRADE!!

i liked kindergarten. was my favorite grade for public school, but i'm not a fan of public school. i liked the cubbies they had. it still impresses me when i recall them now. i liked snack time and rest time. i liked the clay and we did some dances in kindergarten as well and they had a piano and story time. i also remember leaving one day, i guess i felt like it. and attempting to walk home on my own. lol. and after i was allowed to walk there on my own, i occasionally would decide to pick flowers (weeds) around the block and then return home around two hours later and my mother was like WHAT are you doing? lol. the first time i think she thought it was funny, but later on it wasn't. have to get serious. there are always the negatives as well. but i think there were less negatives in kindergarten than in other grades. the kids were taken out who couldn't handle it, compared to the chaos that ensues in other grades when unruliness is mainstreamed. we even had a kid in kindergarten who stole EVERYONE'S clay. she wanted it all for herself. her parents put her in special ed and she would brag that in special ed she had as much clay as she wanted, like that was the point of kindergarten. stuff like that always confused everyone else, can't they catch the problems earlier. she had attempted kindergarten before and was a problem every time, that kid was a thief all the way through grammar school and into adulthood. they start early, the kids that steal your barbie car when you are in kindergarten will steal your real car when you are an adult. they don't change. grrrr.
