Yes I remember FCOJ. We always had it and grape juice in our freezer. We had fresh oj rarely but my mom had a hand juicer...you cut the orange in half...twist it on the juicer...pick seeds from the juice and drink. Still have moms juicer...just don't use it.

The reason I put this discussion on is that for some reason Saturday morning after shopping for groceries, I couldn't ever remember seeing fcoj in the frozen food section. It was a big item in my dad's grocery store with a large section of one of the freezers devoted to it. He carried two brands with the two sizes. It was a staple at our house. My mom bought the big can every week. Fresh juice was a treat for a while when Mom used the hand twist juicer. Then she go a mechanical juicer and we had fresh more often. The last time I had heard of it was in the movie, "Tradin' Places".

I remember drive troughs that sold milk, eggs, butter and oj. Sometimes ice cream!

Yes I remember the canister of OJ! I do not recall my mother squeezing fresh oranges to make juice. I remember the grape juice and lemonade. You could get the small can or the big can.

Yep, Janie, Minute Maid still makes the frozen concentrate. I keep one or two cans in the freezer just in case I can't get to the store and run out of the carton of OJ. Hubby started having a glass of juice every morning when he quit smoking 10 years ago, says it helps him not want that first cigarette in the morning!

I have always used the frozen since it does not get outdated as quickly as the fresh. I find that most of the jugs of juice in the stores are made from concentrate anyway.

We had an orange tree in the backyard and when oranges were in season we had fresh orange juice.

I just planted an orange tree, lemon tree and already had an older mango tree at my 'new' house in Fl. I hope one day to squeeze my own Florida orange juice. How sweet is that? I bought frozen concentrated 100% cranberry juice from Aldi the other day. Love it.

barbie ~ You are RIGHT as usual ~ Most of the cartons of OJ say right on them made from real concentrated orange juice..There are a couple though or I believe ~ it is Simply Orange ~ that IS the real thing! I like to keep a few small cans of the frozen on hand for baking .. I also use it as accentuating flavors when I am cooking or just a bit on salads using as you would lemon/lime juice. Fish is yummy when baked in it as well as chicken a la orange, etc.

Ching I had apple, pear and even Mulberry trees in my yard at my old house...Sekel pears the tiny ones ~ yum!
