Don't know if you are still here----but I was telling you that you needed Norton AntiVirus before. Those virus sneak in from cyberspace and pretty soon -- boom it is all gone. Sorry you had that happen.

Yes you have to have a anti virus and still some viruses get through. Also just clicking on links here on DS will have viruses in them

You can also go to your control panel, clear out your cookies, temp files and run a problem shooter.

There are free anti virus programs out there also but not as thorough. I will have to look them up cant recall them now. DUHH

Sorry to hear about your computer woes. Computers are just like houses...we need to keep them cleaned up.

Below is the info I got off m;y computer to delete temp files.

It's a good idea to delete temporary Internet files periodically to free drive space.

Click to open Internet Explorer.

Click the Tools button , and then click Internet options.

Click the General tab, and then, under Browsing history, click Delete.

In the Delete Browsing History dialog box, select Temporary Internet files, click Delete, and then click OK.

Thanx barbie ~ I wrote that all down for future reference. I do have anti virus & firewalls under Norton which comes automatically with my cable provider! Also Joyce am going to look at that feature you mentioned as the computer guy at the shop removed a lot of my files he said that were slowing it down...

Got my computer back yesterday.. The problem was an old surcharge outlet bar that needs replaced. My electric area that starts the computer got fried during the last lightening storm or when they refired an electric transmitter. No viruses etc. Just good old fashioned FRIED!!
