NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
For the believer the cross is the most precious word we know. For without the cross of Jesus we would have no hope or expectation of going to heaven. The cross of Jesus has been and will always be the believer’s hope and glory.
Paul states that there was nothing he could boast about or glory in except in the cross of Jesus. The cross of Jesus is the only way to come to God for salvation. Why the cross? The cross symbolizes the altar used in the Old Testament where sacrifices of the blood of animals would be used as a temporary way for the children of Israel to have their sins forgiven. They believed God by faith that there would come a day when the Lamb of God would come to take away all their sins.
The altar God chose for the New Testament was the cross of Jesus where Jesus shed His blood for the permanent forgiveness of sin. From the very first book of the Bible to the last book of the Bible we see the cross foretold.
Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
God had to shed the blood of an animal to make coats of skins to cover the sins of Adam and Eve. The New Testament states that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.
Revelations 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
There is an old hymn which states ‘what can wash away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus.’
This is why so many skeptics call Christianity the bloody religion. Sermons about the blood of Jesus are very far and few between in this day we live in. Why? The blood of Jesus means that there is nothing mankind can do to earn salvation. This is hard for people to understand because surely there must be something I have to do. But with the blood, man must realize that only the blood of Jesus shed on the cross, cancels out any efforts that man could do to earn salvation.
I leave you with these verses about the blood.
Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

The blood of Jesus Christ is the most valuable commodity in Heaven and on Earth. It cost God His most dearly beloved Son Who left Heaven's glory to die a most horrible death. Yet this most valuable commodity which purchases for us the universe's most precious gain, an eternity with the wonders and glories of Heaven, is available to each individual free, without money and without price. The blood of Jesus blots out our sins and preserves our souls eternally for a glorious paradise of love and joy. This gift of eternal life is a gift of the love, mercy and grace of God to redeem fallen man back into fellowship with the Lord God who created us
The only way that we can avoid the terrible consequences of our sinful works is through the blood sacrifice outlined in the Bible, all of which point to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is interesting that shortly after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem was completely destroyed
Throughout His ministry Jesus was aware that His purpose was to give His blood as sacrifice for our sins
