Well this a "loaded" question isn't it since the four Gospels do NOT agree with each other. Actually three do and one does not. So let's see what each says from the NKJV :

Matthew 28:2 says the following : And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.

Mark 16:3 and 4 says the following : And they said among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door for us?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away--for it was very large.

Luke 24:2 says the following : But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

John 20:1 says the following : Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it ws still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

So Matthew says it was an angel of the Lord while the other three Gospels simply say that it was "found" that way which infers that we don't actually know. So the "correct" answer is A and B.

We are arguing semantics at this pont. Matthew "clearly" says that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary indeed "saw" the angel roll back the stone so there is no dispute here. In the other three Gospels the same thing can not be said. So scholarly opinion "assumes" that the stone was rolled away, before Mary Magdalene and the other Mary arrived, by the angel/angels. The text does not cleary say that the angel/angels rolled the stone away in Mark, Luke and John as it does in Matthew. We can chaulk it up to different testimonies given by different witnesses to the same event. Taking this into account we say that the angel/angels rolled the stone away whether "seen" in Matthew or "not seen" in Mark, Luke and John. It doesn't really matter because in each Gospel account the stone is rolled away which is the important fact in ALL four Gospels. In this way it's symbolism rings true.

Oh and I forgot, silly me, to mention the TRULY IMPORTANT part of the Easter story which is that He DID INDEED RISE FROM THE DEAD!!!! Amen

A good argument can be just the thing that is needed. Did you notice, it made people think about what the really believe. It made people talk about Jesus.
