How does that fit in with Prov 8.22, and Rev 3.14? They explain Jesus was the first born of all creation by God. Before Adam. Is it explaining His previous life as the son of God who then gave himself to be our ransom sacrifice at that time? It would explain many scriptures and references.

The Book of John begins as follows (NASB):
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

The above is consistent with the understanding that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Creator from the very beginning, He declares that He is in the Father, and is one in the same...
John 10:30 (NKJV), "I and My Father are one.â

Proverbs 8:22, "The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old" is comparable to David's statement in Psalm 139:16 (NASB)
"Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. "

Rev. 3:14 (NASB) is also a very interesting choice that is consistent with Yeshua (Jesus) being present from the beginning, "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:"

So the genealogy serves to fulfill the role He would undertake as He Dwelled among us, He had to be of the Lineage of David and God the Father accomplished it thru Mary (the seed of the woman), and thru Joseph He is the adopted son (still of the line of David) and there is a clue given about His Role as Messiah thru this birth right, Yeshua Ben Joseph (the suffering servant) rather than Yeshua Ben David (the conquering King).
