for those with a chemical addiction to a benzodiazapine who are trying to withdraw. Including klonopin, Xanax, Ativan, Valium and other similar medications
Hi my name is Carmen and I'm a 27 year old with a dependence to Klonopin. I've been on this drug for several years. Only the past 3 that I've taken it regularly and the past year that I've been trying to wean off it. I'm currently at 1.5mgs a day that I take as a titrated liquid (4 babyfood jars of milk and K a day). I need to take it 4 times a day because I get interdose withdrawal. Anyway, my doctors do not understand! They actually prescribe me to take 8mgs a day but I don't, I only ever took 2mgs a day. When I told them I wanted to come off the drug they said it would only take a few weeks. I'm sure you all know better. They also told me they don't think I'll ever be able to come off this drug. Sometimes I agree but I also reach tolerance quickly so it wont be long I know until I just have to come off. I was weaning slowly by putting my 2mgs K in 80ml of milk and extracting .1ml a night. That means it would have taken me 800 days. I was unsuccessful at that. I started to have severe muscle weakness and it got to where I'd barely move w/o pulling or strainging a muscle in my back or chest and that was TERRIFYING! So now I'm holding my dose at 1.5 mgs a day. I will probably go back to 2 for a while because I have a 5 year old son and a 1 year old daughter. I already have fibromyalgia and all I can do is lay in the bed. I am in such pain and terror everyday! I have a horrible marriage with a husband that has anedonia (depression where you feel numb to all emotions) and he is not empathetic or compassionate at all. That's not his fault I don't guess with that depression. He's also an alcoholic as well and it's just a bad loveless marriage. I've been through so much in the past year that everyone I know in my fb benzo grops, they tell me it's probably best to go back on the 2mgs until I can get my life stable. Meaning I'm trying for SSI and when that comes in I'm leaving my husband and getting in my own place with my kids. My husband doesn't want custody. And plus my kids will be a little older. I figure when my daughter is 3 and my son is 7 it will still be hard but maybe I'll be in my own home by that time and it wont be as hard as now with them 1 and 5. I'll have my own money too. I'll be more well established at a doctor's office so I can recieve regular care. All this stuff I really need to do because my health is so bad because of this crap! Anyway, more on me later. Thank you for reading and I'm glad to find this group!
