My boyfriend has recently expressed an interest in the BDSM lifestyle to me. I knew a little bit before that he was into that sort of thing but he never really tried to be with me. You could say that I really don't completely understand what the whole thing means. I am still doing some research and trying to figure out how I feel about it. The whole "pain" thing doesn't really turn me on, but I don't want to tell him that because I want to do everything that he enjoys. I really don't hardly ever tell the man "No" about anything. I love him that much. "Rough" is okay with me and I enjoy it but definitely not "pain." Anyway, any information/advice is welcome....
The first thing to know about BDSM is, it should be consensual and for the enjoyment of both partners. It's also individual to each couple just as any other type relationship. There are no rules, it's whatever the two (or more) people involved want for their relationship. There doesn't have to be pain, there doesn't have to be anything that isn't wanted.
The two of you have to talk in depth about what you each want, what you each want to try, what your and his hard limits are, if it's for bedroom only or are you wanting a 24/7 D/s relationship, etc.
If you try something new, discuss it beforehand and also afterwards discuss how it was for you/him.
Open and honest communication is essential!!
