My depressed bf broke up w/ me. Now he's back...
After months of battling with severe depression my boyfriend of some time broke up with me through text. He said he wasn't good for me, that he couldn't have a relationship right now, that he wasn't even happy with himself. I was devastated. I had to take a step back and realize that I couldn't stand in his way... I didn't want to stand in the way of what he felt was best for him. He's been out of state for almost 2 months know seeking treatment so that distance made the relationship even harder along with not hearing from him often.
About a week passed and he called letting me know that he was starting a new treatment and wanted to know how I was doing. I was ecstatic. Ever since then we've been texting all day/every day. It's been great. I've been rejoicing in the fact that he's doing better; after all I have not heard him this happy in months.
However, along with that comes the fact that well, we aren't together anymore. And I hate that it is on my mind because regardless of what our status is I want to be there for him. But I also don't think it's okay for him to almost pretend like nothing happened. Like he didn't break up with me! I've been feeling uneasy about confronting him about it because he is still in a fragile place in going through treatment.
I love that he still feels like he can confide in me with how he feels and call when he needs to. But my feelings should matter too.
Last night I sent him a video of this song I was listening to, to which he responded 'are you going to my apartment'? (I have a key). I jokingly said I no longer had a key and he got really upset saying 'I know you still have it but hey if you don't want it anymore just mail it to me' Eventually I told him the key was in my car. And I just felt awful bc 1) he shouldn't get upset with me if I don't have those keys on my person anymore, 2) we aren't together anymore...as much as that has been hard to accept we aren't and eventually I will have to give up those keys.
Anywho, this is me venting. And not really knowing what the right thing to do is.
