I am not sure why I feel like sharing but I will just do it. Even if maybe nobody but one or two members active here. As I mentioned before I feel so out of my element when I am at a gathering. (small party or meetings) I always feel anxious and super unconfortble. Even looking at poeplestreigh in the eyes feels so painful that I have to squint my eyes just to keep up with the conversation.
I think after I told the person I was speaking to about my disorder and told them thats just how I am... I felt much better and safer. I was still uncomfortable but I was more calm and in control of the wierd looks, my face was making. I felt like a mini victory today. So just wanted to share some hope. Thank you for reading.
I can relate. I am forced to attend parties from time to time. Knowing I'm experiencing social anxiety as part of the whole divine gag gift package helps me deal with it a little. I can't look people in the eyes and should I by some off chance glance into another person's eyes, I quickly look away.
It really helps when you have understanding people in your life. They're gold. Treasure them. I don't have to tell you how most people are. For me, surprisingly, doctors are the worst. Doctors never get it and most psychologists don't either but at least explaining it to a psychologist will eventually get you a sympathetic ear. Doctors not so much.
