For me, it's not so much terror about being with people, it's about apprehension. I feel like I don't belong and I don't like to go places by myself, unless I am specifically out on an errand. For me, it's embarrassing. I have signed up for Meetup groups, but the only one I go to, is because I go with my friend (my only one).
I was just wondering if because I am not physically scared to go out, if I do suffer (albeit, mildly) from the same thing? I do find one on one interactions to be normal, but any more than that and I am not comfortable and feel extremely conscious of everything I say or do, for fear of humiliation or embarrassment.
Hi ebonyknight,
I think you are right about there being a range of severity. I can hold down a job, but some of the people with this are not able to, or maybe they have multiple issues. I feel like you, in that I only go out when I'm with family or a friend, and generally not at all. Any place like a bar or club where there are large groups seem to be especially difficult or impossible.
I wish I had something more helpful to say, for instance a way to not have this problem.
Hey. Well. I'm a wedding planner! I found out that is a good way to help people around and not having to socialize. I have the same condition. One at a time feels better. And now that I'm married I hold on to my husband to have people at home and dealing with them. I think that deep inside I suffer way more that I accept or show. So...I guess the disorder is manageable. Hard... painful but manageable
