I'm new here, just diagnosed with AVN 2 weeks ago. From what I've gathered I have 2 stress fractures in the head of my left hip. I have a consult with an orthopedic surgeon on the 22nd. I'm having left sided groin pain, buttocks pain, and pain down to my left knee. I also have a feeling of fullness behind my left knee. I can walk but I'm using a walker due to my hip just giving out on me with no warning. I live completely alone and have fallen several times. At the moment I'm not having any symptoms on my right side. I'm 45 and I'm having a hard time understanding all of this. I do know that it can be caused by using steroids. Well for about 8 years my ex-husband gave me testosterone shots trying to get my sex drive to increase. But that's a whole other story.? I have questions about diagnosis and treatment of AVN. Like the stress fractures were not seen on x-ray or CT but were diagnosed with MRI only. Is this normal? And if it is what stage am I at? And what is the likelihood I will get it in my right hip? I was discharged from the nursing home I was staying at today. I'm also having dizzy spells. Also I have a history of bilateral lower DVTs and bilateral PEs so I have an IVC. And I am not on any blood thinners at the time. Any comments, etc. will be appreciated.
