One of the most difficult things we face here is the heat. Any tips (practical or otherwise) for coping?
I don't go out in the sun at all unless absolutely necessary.eg) hang washing in the late afternoon. We dont have a/c but fortunately live in a valley blessed with breezes. I actually found that the a/c affected me because of the change in temp when you leave it.
I just get hot flushes regularly-this could be the Rebif too but I have been lucky and not had side effects from it. At work I have to layer my clothes as I feel hot even in the middle of winter. I am looking to find a cooling neck tie-they used to sell them everywhere years ago but am still yet to find one.
I am lucky though as we have a pool and air conditioning but I don't like getting hot at all.
I am not sure what more we can do other than perform our activities in the cooler part of the day. I do know that MS causes havoc on your internal body regulator.
If only there was an easy answer to help us all with this problem. I tend to think that we live in a country that has a more fluctuating temperature range than many.
I am going to look into a couple of items that can be bought for equestrian sport, there is a cooling vest and will price them and find a link to put up.
I also make neck ties that have a water holding gel in them that you soak in water and wear loosley around your neck. I make them in a variety of shapes so that they can have a "V" shape going down the neck etc to increase the cooling area. I am going to make myself a set of wrist bands too and ankle ones.
I find that just going from room to room regardless of the ambient temp can have enough effect for me to break out in flushes and get all hot and sweaty.
I always have to dress in layers so that I can put them on and off and I get so damned tired of it.
