It all started when I was about four, no this is not when I started having attacks, this is when I started something I love and now may have to give up because I have Exercise Educed Asthma. I followed in my big brothers footsteps and have been playing soccer since day one.. well pretty much! Anyways, about a year ago I started having asthma attacks while playing soccer, after having the filth attack that week I got my mom to bring me to a walk in clinic. They proscribed me an inhaler. Since I'm only an 8th grader I lose things pretty often including my inhaler, my last inhaler was stolen from me.. Soccer has started once again and I feel like I have no control over myself and I feel like my family doesn't even understand me or care about my problems. Multiple times I've asked them to at the very least to not smoke around me but I feel like they can't hear what I'm asking, it hurts. Whenever I try to explain my problems I feel like crying. I tell myself if I try harder it will go away.. well it doesn't. I'm not sure if I should quit the one thing I love or keep pushing myself to try harder.

Hi! I am new to asthma myself. I also love to be active. I don't play sports but do take several classes at my local gym like spinning, kickboxing, and HIIT classes (where you do a lot of push ups and burpees etc). I find it really hard but I love it so much so I understand what you are saying. I think you can still play soccer. there are some pretty famous soccer players who have asthma. The key is to do a good warm up before so you can get your lungs ready for the activity. I think you should do what you can, and if you feel really bad when you play soccer, take a break. Maybe your coach can work with you on that. Tomorrow I do my HIIT class and I am a little nervous. Last week I pushed myself too far and had a bad attack. But I know I need to watch it and know my limits...but I am still going. :) Sorry to hear about your not feeling your parents are hearing you. Hope you feel better soon.
