I am having a terrible time this year. Usually I'm not too bad this time of year...but since mid February I've been so miserable. I have been on my nebulizer everyday, pretty much all day long. I just did a week of higher dose prednisone and it didn't help at all. It's something in the air....I have bad allergies, but I can't figure out why things are sooooo bad. I'm just miserable. Last year I felt pretty good. I have had asthma all of my life and I've struggled a lot...but usually I'll have 3-4 weeks (at most) of bad asthma, then things settle down and I feel ok...but not this year. I just can't get better. It's started to really freak me out. I did do a year of Xolair, I didn't feel that it made much difference so I stopped it. Maybe I need to try Dulera, it's new. I have basically been using albuterol, pulmicort and Cromlyn Sodium in my nebulizer, I take Benadryl several times a day. I love in Southern California, not sure what's going on.

This year I guess is just a bad year. I thought with all the snow and ice we got things would be better. Well, for me they are worse. I do a mix of albuterol and atrovent in the nebulizer. I live in Eastern part of Virginia.
About a year ago my pulmonologist just changed my inhalers.
I hate when they mess with your medicines because then you have to deal with all the side effects again.
Have you had a medicine change recently? I know your body can build up immunity to the inhalers then they stop working.
Have you been on singulair ? That may help you.
I was on Dulera for a while and it did work but it gave me severe thrush so I tried something else. The new one here is Breo something. The doc gave me a sample it also worked but my insurance won't cover it.
I hope you get the right combination of meds. that will help you.

Tough spring in New England! I am on Xolair every 2 weeks at max dose. I take Dulera 200 2 puffs 2x daily.
Having a tough time since Memorial Day weekend with coughing, wheezing and chest tightness. Not fun !

Hi! I am new here. I was just diagnosed with asthma three months ago, but it looks like I have had it for a while. I was tested for environmental allergies and it looks like I am very allergic to all pollen, weeds, grasses, and trees. I live ob the East coast of Canada and this winter was very tough for me. We had NO snow at all all winter and the temperature was so mild, trees were blooming when they shouldn't. What made me to to the doctor in the first place was last summer when I kept becoming very short of breath. I moved into a new apartment that has an air exchanger and that is where my allergies really kicked in. The building is around 6 years old and the filters were never cleaned. Since I turned it off, I am doing much better. I am thinking this summer will not be fun for me because of the high pollen counts we have, but I want to go biking in the nature trails all over the city! I refuse to stay indoors this summer. Should be interesting. :)

Yes dar2044 summers can be rough. With all the different pollens and other stuff in the air asthmatics suffer. Here in Va. the humidity is what gets me. I don't have allergies thank goodness. I workout mostly in the house because I can't stand to be outside because I can't breathe. I have already been on steroids this year. The pulmonologist has changed my inhalers. Now I take Breo Ellipta and Spiriva along with the duonebs and singulair. Of course the rescue inhaler proair. I was on Advair HFA and Symbicort high dose on both.
So far the new inhalers have worked. I hope the asthma calms down a bit. Right now our weather is up and down. Yesterday it was 70's muggy and raining today 50's windy and cool. I have a hard time going from hot to cold. (weather wise. I guess it is the barometric pressure.)

I was diagnosed as an adult. I asked the doctor why now. I didn't have it as a kid at all. I played sports with no problem and now that I am adult I have asthma. I have grown up in the same area I live in. It is just weird.

I find it funny that I only developed allergies and asthma as an adult too. I use Zenhale (in the USA it is called Dulera). And for rescue I use Ventolin. I bought my mountain bike! Excited to hit the trails. Hope my lungs co-operate!
