I think that art is very important, especially as a way of healing, no matter what from. So I think it's good to be aware of the benfits of Art, what it does, how it helps people.
I found this quote when I was looking for affirmations for my art groups I run that said "Art is you being free from all the worlds of heaviness, " I thought it was so fantastic. I just wanted to know what you thought?
I agree with this statement. Sometimes I am very sad and to paint, draw or work on any craft helps me to be more positive. Art therapy exercises are good too unless I am too activated to do them.
Did you know that for me art is a confidence thing? I never feel like I will be good enough because I cannot seem to draw really well! I can copy art well like a tigger or but if I had to come up with it in my own mind I'm sure I would be lost!
I have so much respect for you all in here who are gifted not only with your talents but the guts to start it in the first place!
Bravo to all of you!
Art is the picture of your your feelings that is for sure. ,sakes one vulnerable wouldn't you agree?
It can be said that art is like a journal, that's why I did it. Because after one of my accidents I couldn't really say what I was thinking. I only felt it. I also believe that everyone does something artful. For example, my stepdad, he doesn't draw like but he builds things out of wood. Shelving cabinets and bars, he taught himself. I say people have a very narrow view of what art is. I see it as passion. Me, I can never imagine myself not drawing, if I don't have paper, I draw on my jeans. Visual 2d art is my passion. What do you do you do that you can't ever imagine not doing. Maybe that's your art. Maybe it's the way you speak to someone or your garden. Write or the way that you photograph... I just believe that art helps us see the beauty in our lives. Even when it feels lost sometimes.
Miles you are correct. I have a lot of things I am passionate about. I like to email friends and keep up on here and I write poetry and did stitching. One thing I do that is funny and dangerous is retail therapy, that can get expensive, lol.
I took you advise and bought Jen drawing pads, drawing markers and special coloured drawing pencils.
It does take you away to a new place and away from all the hustle and bustle of caregiving that is for sure.
I am eager to see how Jen does with the drawing. I am going to look for some "how to draw" books at the mall and see if it will remind her of what was taught in class. Thanks again for the suggestions, this will be awesome!
That is fantastic:) I am so happy. Also you do an art that I can only dream of, I love words and how they can be put together to reach out to people. Unfortunately that is not my medium. I think I will be excited to see what she does with the drawing books too, art can save the world:)
