Ultrasound, blood work today...need advise/encoura

Hi ladies,
Well this morning I went to RE office for ultrasound and bloodwork. Today is day 5 of stims. My protocol started with bcp, overlapping with Lupron. Started on 10units Lupron, dropped down to 5units on Saturday, and started Follistim 450 each eve, and Menopur 75 each eve. I have also been taking 1 81mg baby aspirin daily. I have been trying to be very positive and trying not to stress or over analyze everything! The ultrasound tech said my uterine lining looks great, left ovary has 2 follies size 9, and 2 smaller ones. Right ovary only has 2 small follies. This was so discouraging to me. This is my first IVF cycle, but I have done 3 IUI's and I responded much better then , with several follies. I know it is still early, but I just wanted to know what you ladies think. has anyone ever had this slow start? I recall JmeP had a slow start with only 1 follie, ending up to have a few perfect ones in the end. The nurse from my RE office called this afternoon and said my Dr reviewed the u/s pics, and bloodwork, and wants me to continue on same dose, and go back on Saturday for another ultrasound, bloodwk. My estrogen level was very good though she said..259. Its all jsut so overwhelming! I had an acupuncture session today also. I certainly needed it! Lessened my anxiety and helped me relax.

Thanks carli, I appreciate it! I did hear that sometimes bcp and lupron can over suppress the ovaries..which I guess means what you said, makes it so you don't produce a lot. Is it just a guessing game..how the RE decides what protocol to put you on? Very frustrating! I just have to wait and see what Saturdays ultrasound shows. When do you go for ultrasound??

I hate I do not have any good advice, since this is my 1st IVF cycle. I will just tell you what my RE told me when I asked him how he decided on my protocol, since he did not put me on bcp or Lupron. I was so concerned since so many women where on it. I only had 4 follicles, 2 on each side, when we started planning to go with IVF. He said BCP and Lupron stood a larger chance to over suppress me. He is starting me on Day 2 of my next AF on Follistim 300 and Menopur. With all that said, so many women started out a little slow and turned out with wonderful ones in the end. I would just continue to try not to stress and trust if your RE had any concerns, they would change your meds.

My doctor didn't see all the follicles during the first few ultrasounds and in the end there were 3 more than they said/thought I started with. You never know - just try to stay positive.
