Hello all. I am new to this group and I am looking forward to meeting some people here for some insight and to support as well. Quick back story on myself, I am 34 and divorced. I was with my ex for almost 11 years and it ended horribly. In the process I lost people, family, security, money, my house (got it in the divorce but had to short sale), one of my dogs, any savings, family, and any good credit standing. I moved back in with my parents recently (eek) and am now living paycheck to paycheck barely scraping by. I have been here for about 2 years now and I have to say there is good and bad in this. I feel like I have taken major steps backward in my adult life but I am happy to be around my parents.
Lately I have been riddled with anxiety over certain things and I am loosing sleep and always on edge. My parents are aging and so is the one dog I got in my divorce (I know it sounds silly but Ive had him for 14 years and I feel like he is the only thing that is truly mine). I lay awake at night, sit at work, drive in my car and all those times thinking about them passing away.
I am so worried about loosing the few things I have left. I know it is inevitable, for everyone, but I cant bear the thought of my life without the few supports I have left. I have some wonderful friends but they have their own lives. I have a sister with whom I am very close with, but she is married and has two little kids of her own. I am envious of her because I feel that whenever this happens, she will have her family to turn to. And I will be left in this life alone. I know I will have people to support me, but what about those in between times? What about when every thing calms down? I know this sounds silly. I know what I would tell a client being a counselor. But that means nothing to me. I am overwhelmed with worry, fear, and sadness.
I believe in talk therapy but at this time I cannot afford it. I am not sure how to manage this anxiety and how to understand, process, and control these thoughts. Has anyone ever had these thoughts/feelings? I feel I am rambling here. Thanks for those who take the time to read this and I hope it is not too erratic!

It is normal with anxiety to be asking yourself the "What If" questions. Ex: What if my dog dies? Challenge that question. What if your dog dies, you will be sad and your mom and dad will help you grieve your loss. Your life will go on. It won't be easy but it will happen.
