Winter and feral cats

All my semi feral kitties are getting their winter coats. They are all so fluffy and healthy looking in the winter months. I have my shelters cleaned out and ready to go for winter. They are using them a lot already so I know they will stay nice and warm.

I know this wouldn't be exciting for others but my Mama kitty doesn't usually meow. Her daughters all meow loud when I go out to feed them and get excited for the food but mama kitty never has done this. Feral cats learn to be very quiet and mama taught them to be quiet but they slowly got louder as they got older during feeding times. Mama kitty for the first time meowed at me when I was giving her food this morning. She is getting more and more trusting. I have been feeding her since 2008 so this is big for me. Her adult daughters have always been more trusting and I can pet Snickers but only when she wants to be petted.

That's awesome. I have three feral cats. One black cat, Jett is the most friendly. He lets me pick him up and bring him in the house. The other two are not as friendly, but have been letting me pet them during feeding. Angel, I think that's great....a big step for Mama Kitty.

No, I can't pet mama kitty but she will eat now with me being very close to her. I have to stay outside while she eats because she eats very slow and Snickers eats fast and then will steal her food.

Last night when I walked outside with the food she meowed and again this morning. It's so exciting that she is talking to me after all these years. This is such a big step for mama kitty. Last night I was petting Snickers to try and keep her away from mama kitties food and she was so loving and let me pet her all the way down her body which is a first for her. For some reason Snickers will only let me pet her during the cold months and won't let me touch her in the spring and summer months. Not sure what is up with that.

HELLO ANGEL, THERE YOU ARE THIS KITTIES ANGEL, ITS SO AWESOME TO SEE YOU CARE FOR THEM, FEEDING THEM, AND MAKING SURE THEY HAVE A WARM PLACE TO STAY, NOT MANY CARE LIKE YOU, ITS SO KIND OF YOU, HERE I FEED THE BABY SPARROWS ,ONE ROBIN, A SQIRREL OR 2 AND WHEN THEY CAME THE BLACKBIRDS, THEY HAVE A CORNER WITH FEEDERS AND I GET FAT BALLS AND SEEDS, ALSO THEY HAVE A BALL OF CLEAN WATER, THEY SING WHEN THEY SEE ME GOING OUT IN THE GARDEN AND FILLING THE FEEDERS, I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR MANY YEARS, ITS SUCH A SIGHT..LOVE LUCY**

my outdoor cats are similar - they don't want to be held in the warm months, only when its cold. i try to see it their way, they are wearing fur and its summer, they must not feel too happy. at night when its windy they are better about it, but they don't get lovey until its colder out. probably need more warmth by then.
