WHAT DO YOU DO FOR ANEMIA IN CATS?
My handicapped cat Michele, has anemia, she always has this, but it doesn't affect her and the vet ignores it mostly.
I treated the animals for fleas the other day, and gave Michele REVOLUTION because she also had tape worm and Revolution handles all forms of parasites in addition to fleas. Its different and stronger than what we normally use. The next day Michele was lethargic and crying out here and there. She felt cold and was laying around more than usual.
The symptoms were more for anemia than poisoning. I called the vet and he said if its more than 12 hours washing off the Revolution won't help, and it might not be that anyway as she also has anemia I checked her eyes and gums and they are white - even her tongue is white-ish pink. The package of Revolution doesn't offer any solutions.
I am bottlefeeding her kmr and putting nutrical on her gums and bottlefeeding her water. I bought her beef liver and syringe fed her liver blood, water and crushed liver - cooked. I read GERITOL, can also help this, however, my vet said long ago that eventually the anemia would be a problem. I still think its FLEA ANEMIA, but i don't know if the reaction is a COINCIDENCE with the Revolution, or the product is bad for her (the other animals are fine with it).

I do know that Revolution does not treat tapeworm. All of my feral cats have tapeworm really bad, to the point the stomach is very swollen. I am not able to get them to take the tapeworm pill, even if I try and hide it in something good.
I do hope she starts feeling better soon. We lost some feral cats in our neighborhood last summer and I think it was flea anemia. They were bald from pulling out their fur and skin and bones but they were feral and nobody could get near them to try and treat them. Good luck........hugs
k thinks its a bad batch and i think its the dosage. i should SUE revolution! i mean it!
Now I'm afraid to use it even though I have not had any major problems with it. Although the 2 feral cats I do treat are the only 2 that dig at the base of their tail and have a bald spot. My own indoor cat has not had any problems.
How is Michele doing? Is she getting better?
