You couldn't of said it any better. I've always had a special connection with animals whether it be cats, dogs, pigs, cows, horses. I have had several rescue dogs throughout my life.

I currently have two Lab Cross who are my babies, unconditional love. I wish humans were more like animals.

I happen to agree with both of you. I love animals more than people...LOL! Something about their unconditional, non-judgmental love. Their love is so pure and they are so innocent. I can leave my dog for a few moments and go throw in a load of laundry only to come back and have him so excited to see me like I was gone all day! Who saved who, I often use that phrase. Our furbabies love us even in our worse moments. Even when we don't love ourselves.

Joenick , I found a sign and bought it. "The more people I meet....the more I like my DOG", lol.

Beautiful and so true!!!! My kids always tell me that I would probably pick the dog over them!

so true. i have come such a long way with that. i always viewed my pets as forever, never even occurred to me that it wouldn't be, but to me they were pets, and when people called them anything else i thought they were crazy actually, even though i do a LOT of rescue myself.

then a few years ago i started viewing them as kids and saying come with mommy and stuff like that. i had never done that with animals at all. loved them all, but not like that.

recently i started viewing them as friends. have no idea why that took so long. i have had pets my entire life. but here it is. animals are the real deal. they are truly loyal and they truly care. they are not at all two faced and are always trustworthy. the world would perish without them compare that to humans, jonas salk pointed out the planet would actually FLOURISH if humans didn't exist on it.

I just joined this group and LOVE the comments on this discussion! I have a sweet mixed breed dog who is a puppy mill survivor. She still has fear but is now loved every minute of every day. She has learned that humans can be kind. I wish she could talk to tell me of the horrors of her early life. Like soul searcher….I say the same thing….who saved who? The unconditional love is like no other!! Like MC said, if only people were more like dogs!! The world would be a much better place!

My dogs are my very best friends.
I keep forgetting....I'm now down to just one ( for now ) .
My 14 yr old rescue racing greyhound passed 3 weeks ago. I paid a hospice vet to come to my home so he could leave this earth in the safety & comfort of the home he loved . It was the most peaceful dog death I've ever experienced.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. It's so hard, like a part of undies with them. I miss my max every day.

Kaileyblue, I'm sorry for your loss. Wonderful that you said goodbye to him in his loving home with his family. Hugs!

I lost my second dog Gracie on April 3 . It was just 3 weeks after my greyhound Ty passed. I have to believe she just missed him so much she gave up.

I've been grieving them both now. I went from two dogs down to none. The house is so empty and quiet. I go into my back yard that they both loved so much and let myself cry. I know they both lived long lives but it still hurts. My husband is just as upset as I am.

I'm almost 62 years old and hubby's pushing 70. I told him we still have time to love another fur-baby again. So I filled out an application from a rescue group near me and we might be getting a poor timid 8 month old lab mix they rescued from a high kill shelter. She's doing pretty good in a foster home. I said a prayer to my Ty & Gracie to help this adoption work out. I hope it does.

I think that is the best thing for you both! A loss of one is unbearable but two is just unimaginable! I lost my beautiful Max this past October but couldn't stand the emptiness so we got Jax three weeks later. He is a blessing. I hope you get a new furbaby. You sound like a loving couple that would give a beautiful home to a new pup. Good luck and keep posting.
