HELLO I CAME AS OFTEN AS I CAN, NOT BEEN WELL, ALSO I AM A GRANDMOM NOW AND MY DAUGHTER NEEDS HELP WITH THE BABY, I AM ACTUALLY ALSO LOOKING AFTER HER DOG ''LICI'' AGAIN, SHE HAS BEEN A BIT NEGLETTED AND DOES HER POOPS AND WEES IN THE BABY ROOM, THEY LOVE HER BUT THE BABY NEEDS CARING ALL THE TIME, SHE IS STILL ALLOWED TO SLEEP IN THE SAME ROOM BUT HER BEHAVIOUR HAS CHANGED.
I GUESS ITS NOT EASY FOR A LITTLE DOG TO COPE WITH A NEWBORN, THE CHANGES ARE AFFECTING HER, SO I TAKE HER TO STAY AT MY HOUSE WITH MY DOG , THEY BEEN TOGHETER SINCE SHE WAS A PUPPY, IN TIME SHE WILL ADJUST, WE SEE THAT SHE LOVES THE BABY..
BUT WE ARE CAREFUL SHE DOES BITE, YES SHE IS A CHIUAHUA, THEY ARE SNAPPY LITTLE DOGS..

Less than a year ago we had to put down our German Shepherd . He was 14 . To this day I still can not pet a large dog. I know I will get over this petting a large dog problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I lost Abby 15 months ago she was almost 14. I haven't really been around other dogs since her passing. We do have 2 dogs in the neighborhood that are walked and they look so much like Abby from a distance. Every time I see them I smile and think of Abby. They even walk like her and have the same looking tail. It's hard to explain but I had never really seen dogs that looked so much like her. I get excited to see them walking by but then cry because Abby should be here walking with me.

I used to go online and look at dogs that are up for adoption but I end up crying because I am looking for Abby. Because of my living situation I will never be able to have another dog and not sure I could do that anyway because I just want Abby back.

I am new to this group so I am hoping that it becomes active again. Only animal lovers can really understand each other. Hard to compare notes with people that do not share that compassion. Angel42, I truly sympathize with your loss and feel your pain. You sound like a caring person and hopefully one day a dog will be lucky enough to have you as their owner. I always owned german shepards, but my last dog is a cocker spaniel and I love him so much.

Hi guys! I'm glad to see this group is up and active again!

I totally understand the re-awakening of the grief. My farm cat BFF Muffin was a scrawny abandoned kitten when I found her and I had her for 9 years. Last year we lost her suddenly in a freak accident. To this day, I cannot look at a yellow eyed short haired solid black cat and not feel the sense of loss for her.

Every animal has their own personality and we will never get another just like the ones we love so much. But I do get a kick out of spotting her personality traits in another rescue kitten I took in after Muffin passed. Maggie is a calico but she is saucy and smart and takes walks on the farm with me and the dogs like Muffin used to. Hugs to you all!

They say we can never replace the beloved animals that we've had, but we can alway make room for new animals. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost my beloved Max (cocker spanial) and Scaredy (tabby), but I think I would definitely get more animals. They just bring so much unconditional love!

When I was working an 8am to 5pm job I was always so happy to get home. Usually when I would walk into our home my daughters would be watching tv. I would call out to them hello. They usually would answer me. But who would give me what I wanted was our german shepherd. It was the only time he could get away with jumping up on anyone. But when he stood up on his hind legs he was almost looking me straight into my eyes. He would give me kisses on my face and nibble my hands. He was glad to see me come home. He was such a sweetheart. We always felt very protected and watched over. We have never had a dog like him since.

miss you too angel42. i don't think the groups stopped functioning, i think soooo many people have trouble getting on ds that they are here only half the time that they used to be. also, they post on here and then the post disappears. that has been going on for several years. every time they "fix" this site, posts vanish as we write them. it would be funny but its verrrrry frustrating.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm glad the Spring is upon us. The NY winters are terrible. Now my cuties can enjoy the warmer weather. How's everyone doing?
