I am trying to find someone who might live in my area that would help me find a ride to take my almost 14 year old dog to see a vet. She is having some health issues, trouble breathing, drinking lots of water and she can't get comfortable and seems to be in pain. She sometimes walks around and runs into things.
I don't own a car and my family refuses to take us BECAUSE they are telling me I should not be spending that kind of money on a dog. I I can't beieve they would tell me how to spend my money and Abby is not just a dog. I adopted her when she was a year old and she is apart of our family.
I have been trying for a few months to find a way to get her to see our vet. I am crying just typing this, it's so hard to have a family that can be so cruel and not take us. Oh yeah, my son will only take us when Abby is real bad and needs to be put to sleep.
I would never ask anything like this but I need to help Abby.

2. are there any churches in your area that do the volunteer rides to places?
3. I don't know how far you are from the vets...but a cab?
4. contact local rescue leagues...tell them you just need someone to help you get your animal to the vets...they may offer to help...or know of someone. and SPCA may be of some use, but they are really limited in what they can offer (they have boards of bosses)
Ask, ask, ask, ask, ask- as soon as someone says yes, get an appointment.
Some health issues can't be helped at the vets, but some can be prevented from getting worse...
a taxi may allow it, or call a rescue and ask if anyone will drive you to vet and back for $20 and you would even use their vet? if necessary? may end up with a good alliance that way?
many vets have walk ins available so if someone says they can, you may want to call real fast and get in before they change their mind. call a taxi first though.
I'm a volunteer at several local shelters. I would like to build a list of people who make certain trips with some regularity who would be willing to give an animal a lift to a new life.
I've noticed that hundreds of animals die needlessly yearly, just because they couldn't get a ride. The ride to a long life could have been as short as 7 miles -- from Center City to a suburb. But since there was no ride, they couldn't get to a destination that could house them.
When city shelters are bursting at the seams with new litters and lost-n-founds, the shelter workers and volunteers work closely with rescues and shelters in other areas of the city and state where they have adopters waiting for them. Some animals have new families waiting for them a few states away but they just can't take advantage of getting a new home because they didn't have the transportation. Shelter workers coordinate all of these things with their colleagues in the business, but at the end of the day, the animals just need a lift. This is particularly sad because people drive within miles of the two locations daily without knowing that they could save a dog or a cat.
I will start a list of people who can and are willing to drive from one area to another area. Then, when I see a transportation need, I'll contact you to see if you can give the animal a lift. Eventually I will put all of this in a database on FB and the web. The shelters are so grateful to people who help with this vital task. The animals are always ready to go with their papers and directions.
Please write me with the region IN ANY PART OF THE WORLD you could easily transport from and to, your size car, and your contact information. I'll contact you and we can go from there. Again there's no requirement. If I call you for a transport and you can't do it, no problem. I'll call the next person on the list. Eventually all of this will be on the web.
Thank you for stepping up. There's nothing more satisfying than to drop an animal off at a location where you know they will be starting a new life.

The one person said we could try again the first week of April, that is when they will have some free time. We will see. Abby is doing ok, just her usual stiff legs and drinking large amounts of water. She is still eating and gets excited when food is coming her way.
