Oh dear, that does sound bad. I know that meds and a bath would be used at our shelter....but washing a cat is hard enough with out it being feral..
anyone know if there is something that could be put into food? could you get close enough to her to put on the drops? you do know that with infections from this she could get deathly ill.
I will think on it and ask at the adoptathon I am going to tomorrow...40 groups and lots of vets....maybe someone there will have an idea.

Yes, I know she can get really ill. She was losing weight and not looking so good but I have been giving her extra Vitamin C and extra servings of wet food. She is looking better weight wise and still eating and drinking. Also gave her drops for tape worms. She is looking better over all but still iching and losing hair. Thanks

Out of 7 feral cats I can only get close to 2 of them. The one who is losing fur is not one of them. I wish there was something I could put in the food to help them with fleas.

I am working at the spca all day tomorrow...I will ask the cat ladies, humane office and director for ideas...I hate to see an animal suffer.
are they all spayed and neutered? is that why they got used to traps? If not, you do know that your feeding them only helps make more little ferrals, right?
our town has a new place that lends you the traps, does sterelizations for 20 bucks each and you re release them, to try to control this population.
anyway, I will see if I can find something out.

Yes, they have all been spayed and neutered through the Feral Cat Coalition when they were younger. We have a group of people in the neighborhood doing this to try and get the cat popuation down in our neighborhood. They have been trapped for the spaying and then I have had to trap a few for injuries and now they won't go near a trap.

We even have a program set up with funds from an organization for free spay and neutering in our neighborhood. I am now dealing with a neighbor who brought 2 kittens home in January, she has been told about the free program but would not take the kittens in. I was just informed her female is pregnant and she is not even a year old. We are no longer on speaking terms so there is nothing more I can do about that situation but a lot of neighbors are very unhappy with this woman after all the hard work we have been doing around here.

I asked the director, the cat ladies and the personnel manager at the shelter...everyone said she has to be caught. and that the fleas sucking her blood will eventually weaken her and kill her.
one lady suggested that if your neighborhood stopped feeding them all for a few days, and then put something super tastey in the cage, you might be able to catch them once again...
even so, the drops they use are only good a few months, and if she is invested so badly, it would tak more regular care.
everyone was in agreement, it is a terrible situation, and there is not much you can do. I asked if there were sprays for the grass, or something for food...anything...no. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Try putting garlic & powdered pumpkin seed in her food.
The pumpkin seed you can get online & it really works for fleas..even ticks.
Worth a try at least :)
The drops for worms are a really good idea too.
