Dad who has complaining about sore throat?

My Dad,76 years old, has been diagnosed with ALS now for 1 1/2 years. He is currently on oxygen with the bipap machine but now find that his troat is sore. When the doctor visited last week he said there were no signs of anything wrong. Any suggestions of how we can help him?

My cousin was also on oxygen and it really made his throat dry and sore. We used throat spray or the chloroseptic thin strips to help.

You could also try glycerin swabs for the nose and mouth. Just swab before putting the mask on and it should relieve some of the dryness.

You can probably get them at any medical supply store or order from online. You doc may have some you can use to see if they work him...

Biiotene makes a spray that is quite effective. Or if you find it in the mouthwash form, just put it in a spray bottle. I have suggested it many times in the pharmacy I worked at. The other suggestions from the other posters are very good. Moisturizing the mucousal tissues will help out
