I don't know the full situation of your dad but my mum had the fear of choking. Is your dad eating normal food then? My mum was offered a peg feeding machine, but my mum never wanted it. With normal food i had to really blend it untill it was very easy to swallow. I also had special build up shakes to give or a youghart that could be given instead of a food. Every case is different in my mums though eventually even a water was difficult. There are things you can do though.

Head position is very important to help prevent choking, as is the consistency of the food. Everything I eat is soft or easily mashed so I can swallow it easily.
