Amputee Community Group
Hi I am new to this site and while researching I did not see any amputee support group. So I am creating my own support group. If interested please join in. With eachother's support, we can all help each other :)

I had a left below knee amputation in February. I experienced very severe phantom pain - it was the worst at night but was pretty unbearable most of the time. I used to get shocks in my 'foot' and extreme shooting pains.
This has pretty much stopped now (unless I do too much). Now I mostly just get tingling and occasional pins and needles. This had pretty much completely settled but I have just started learning to use my prosthesis and this has caused a slight increase in tingling/pins and needles.
Mirror therapy really helped me when my phantom pain was at its worst. The other thing that really helped me was imagining I was moving my foot as if it was still there - this really seemed to settle it down.
I was also on quite high doses of medications - are you taking anything for it? Hope its starting to settle down.
