She has been acting very strange lately and saying strange things, she was taken the the hospital recently because her blood sugar got too low and she fell and hit her head and she was talking about my nephews and nieces as being in the ambulance with her and they of course were not. She was trying to make gravy for breakfast at 4am the other day and got very angry that she couldn't find what she needed and was yelling at dad and I have never heard her raise her voice to anyone not even when I was young.
I am so broken hear ted to know soon dementia will take over and she probably won't even know who I am. It seems to be advancing very quickly and I'm going to spend as much time as I can with her and talking to her on the phone. She forgets little things and soon she wouldn't be able to take care of herself. She is diabetic among other thing and forgets to take her meds and her insulin shots and dad is sick all the time and no one can figure out why. They were both in the hospital at the same time recently for different things, dad was very sick and could not keep any food down and was extremely dehydrated and they kept him for a couple of days. Mom was in at the same time for a planned back surgery because she has terrible back pain.
I think she know something is wrong and when she got the diagnosis she became very depressed and has been ever since. They have 4 children and it's up to us to figure out what to do and of course she needs home health care but we can't really afford it and medicare won't pay for all of it and we are all so broke and barely make it through the month. My oldest sister is an accountant and has taken over paying their bills and my niece makes sure she gets all her medications from the pharmacy she is in nursing school. Mom can when she remembers to gives herself her own insulin shots but her hands are so shaky that she often bends the needle trying to do it. They want to take care of themselves and we have deiced we will let them do so for now but at some point a decision will have to be made as to what to do with her.

Sorry she is going through this and I wish you all the best.
I am so sorry to hear about your mom and dad. This is very hard news to take and I understand you are providing them with as much support as you can give. My daughter's great grandmother has been diagnosed with alzheimers about 3 years ago and I can see how this disease has affected everyone in her life. Her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles all feel the burden of visiting with someone they adore and having her not recognize who they are. Perhaps putting her in full time care may not be something you would like now, but it may be necessary in the future. I wish you and your family all the best and pray you keep your spirits up because this will take it's toll on you all. I pray your mother will have many great times ahead with your father and family. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Christopher.
((hugs))
My prayers are with you,
Marie
