Thank you for sharing. It takes courage to open up as much as you have. Your story is a sad and emotional one... I can only imagine the pain and immersed sense of betrayal this has caused in your life. With that being said, I am proud of you for surviving and fighting through your pain. From the sound of it you have a wonderful family and have led a wonderful life. Believe me when I tell you it is possible to feel like you again. I know from experience. I hope you continue to find much deserved support here on DS, with your therapy and family. You are the only YOU in this world, are irreplaceable and loved. May God bless you and provide relief of your pain.

Thank you for your kind words and compassion. Your reply brought tears to my eyes!
For a long time, it was hard to even tell my story but it gets easier each time. I had a lot of shame and embarrassment...never talked about the sex organs before this!! I can even talk about it with men in my face-to-face depression group so I've come a long way! It now has a sort of power to it in that I won't let these doctors silence me! Unfortunately, it's destroyed the faith I had in the medical profession and so I can't even get to the bottom of digestive issues caused by the surgery.
I have some GYN issues right now but my GP is protecting my innards fiercely, has told two other docs he will not let it "go to invasive procedures" until all else has failed. Your story is a good reminder to me that I am blessed in my GP. And why I avoid the big university medical center. Teaching hospitals put too much emphasis on teaching over patients IMO.
I can't imagine how horrifying this experience has been for you, but please know you will feel like yourself again, and we're all here for you at the Moody Blues Club.
Smiles,
Leo
Even though this hospital has a big gyn residency program, it's not affiliated with a university. It's just part of the Mercy system. When I came across their Graduate Medical Education website, it became clear why this happened! My inner voice tried to tell me something wasn't right but the urgings of friends, family, and doctors won out (due to concerns of ovarian cancer).
You certainly are blessed to have a GP watching out for your best interests! If GP's were the gatekeepers for gyn problems, that would probably help reduce the large number of hysterectomies.
Thanks for your support!
My dr. has also told me how important it is to keep all body parts, even when I was frustrated and wanting them out! I was at the point with my gyn issues a few years ago that I told my doc, "please just remove all unnecessary organs! I am done with them!" Of course, he wouldn't. We went other routes and he took care of my issues. I am so sorry that your doctor was so insensitive. It doesn't surprise me that the insurance comparny and medical board didn't side with you. They only look at the dollar signs. I hope that you had a really good lawyer. If not, maybe getting one wouldn't be a bad idea. It may stop this from happening to another woman.
I hope that you are able to come to terms with this soon. We are here to support you.
