Alcohol Recovery Without 12 Steps Community Group
This group was created to explore various recovery paths for Alcoholism. We generally chose to explore paths outside of the AA model, or ones which incorporate, but are not limited to AA. Anyone wanting to learn and explore how to become free from alcohol addiction are welcome. Our main goal is to support each other with compassion and decency, while remaining open minded...
*Are you drinking alone or with friends?
*Do you go out with friends much, or are you holed up inside your apartement when you are not working?
*Have you tried going to AA consistantly? What is your resistance to AA?
Sorry for all the questions, but based on some of your previous posts, I think that it's possible that you are lonely and bored. The only way to get through it is to get out of the house and join in with a group (or groups) of people. AA is one option for purely social reasons. Another is joining a large church. You don't have to agree with them 100%, but it would allow you to be around non-drinkers with a healthy attitude towards life. Join a gym, join a book club, but get out of your house and your head.
If I'm incorrect about the lonely and bored bit, then I apologize, but that's my impression.
You are such a caring person from your replies on the main board and the msgs we have shared back and forth. Turn some on the caring over to yourself, girlfriend.
I know you are in my shoes with the money thing. I wish you could find a good therapist who would accept payments from you. I am going to call mine on Monday. He really helps me, and I sooooo think it could help you. Just to talk things out. How about some kind of clinic in your area? Anything like that around you.
Does anyone else know any resources for treatment when you're not rolling in the dough?
Keep up the fight, Ashley. You only slipped a couple of times. It's not like you went on a month long bender or anything. Get back up and on the horse, girlfriend. You can do it!
