I live in a very small town and have 4 children. Everyone knows that my husband is an alcoholic and has lost control of his life. I am too embarrased to go to AA meetings because our town talks so much. Yes, I could go out of town but that is unrealistic. I would like to know if this group has members that can offer advice about living with an addict and holding a marriage and family together. I am not ready to leave my husband and really want to help him but realize that I am an enabler and honestly not sure where to even start in trying to stop enabling. I am a HUGE Codependant. I am seeking encouragement and helpful advice on how to strengthen me and truly understand better the addiction. How I can help my children, How to find the right words when explaining that their dads actions doesnt mean he dosent love us. Seriously I could go on and on. Lets start here
It does help a lot going to face to face alanon meetings
For you. Thats where the change happens. It can take
Awhile to get to that point. You can not fix or change
Him only yourself. Do not worry about people seeing
You at meetings they are there for a reason too. Try
Multiple meetings. HUGS
