Hello everyone, I have been a member of this group for a little while now and I thought that now was as good a time as any to come and introduce myself to the rest of the group. I have a younger brother who has been an alcoholic for about 10 years. Sometimes he will drink whole 12 packs of beer in just one night. When he gets really drunk that is when his rages come out. I remember this one time that he got really drunk and he misplaced his cell phone. Well, needless to say all Hell broke lose. He started raging around the house and accusing people of stealing his cell phone and he even started punching holes in the walls and breaking my mom's stuff. I was so scared that night but I also really hated him. I am here to learn how to cope with my brother's drinking and to get some support.
Welcome and thank you for sharing some of your experiences when dealing with your younger brother.
I also have had similar experiences with my adult son. I HAD to put boundaries in the mix.
I've learned to call the police (non-emergency) and when my son was psychotic.
It takes a lot of courage to do this but the alternative was to do nothing and endure a racing heartbeat.
I hope you can attend Al Anon meetings for that is one place I heard what other people were doing
and it gave me the strength to do some of the same things.
My son continue to drink constantly. The latest: He was asleep on my porch and I called the police (non-emergency). They talked to him. We have a filled out and approved restraining order. He came back yelling that he needed to go to the Emergency Room. Don brought him, he was given IVs as his blood alcohol was so high.
Am praying for the strength to call Police when he shows up again and serve him the papers.
I am so frightened.
