This time of year is always difficult because the holidays always remind me of the "family" that I never had. Also, two of my children happen to be born in late November, right around Thanksgiving. Since I have gone "no contact" with my Narc Mom since my father"s death a year and a half ago, she periodically has sent me cards and newspaper articles. One such card came a few months ago. A "thank you" card. Now, I will not go into full detail of what kind of torture my mother put me through when it came to my father's illness and eventual death, but lets just say it was totally unforgiveable. A true Narc rage deal. She sends me a "thank you" card saying inside "Thank you so much for understanding what I had to do for my husband, your father..." Love Mom. OK. There is nothing to be understood, forgiven, or otherwise acknowledged. She has also sent me articles clipped out of the NY times, usually book reviews..... one was a book written about "beautiful souls", people who dared to do "right" even if they themselves put themselves in peril, or endured financial or physical hardship.....So she thinks SHE's a "beautiful soul" now...?. The latest one arrived last week. Another book review about "Adult children who have abandoned their elderly parents, and another one about Children with special needs such as mental illness, physical handicaps, autism, cancer......homosexuals....? and what their parents must endure to take care of them??? All I can do is try to figure out what twisted logic she has to send me this shit. It is almost comical. However, she continues to send birthday cards to 2 of my 3 children, the two November birthdays. It incenses me! Last year she even sent them checks!!! Is she kidding? Of course they did not cash them, but seriously? Should I send them back, burn them, just keep them in a pile? I just want to be left alone. I want her to leave my family alone, my children especially. She has done enough damage! I know I can't stop her from mailing crap. I guess I could just stop opening it. She is relentless. It would be easier if she would just leave me alone. I am afraid that ANY contact, even negative contact would give her back power, in her own sick, perverted way. What does she think she will gain? like I might feel guilty? I have NOTHING to be guilty about except for being a jerk and allowing her to torture me for way too many years.
