Adult children of narcissistic parents Community Group
A space to explore our thoughts, feelings and experiences that have occurred as result of our childhoods with narcissistic parents (one or both). It is hoped that we can use this space as a further tool by which to take control of our lives from those we have inadvertantly relinquished it to, heal the hurt and be happy.
If you are trying to get dad to "see the light" forget about it. He needs special therapy. My narc sister has convinced every therapist that all her problems are the fault of others.
How are you feeling about learning this? Was your father diagnosed as narcissistic? Lady is right in that thetapy for Ns is pretty much a lost cause due to the nature of the disease. However, you have the power to seek therapy for yourself (your brother too). I highly reccommended doing so especially if your father is an N. mine is too and going to therapy has been helpful in learning how warped my sense of reality has been and how much my childhood had affected me and now I have started to really heal. This support group has been great in understanding that I'm not alone too.
Good luck to you and please keep us posted !
It got so I'd stopped even being social around home. But I was always trapped between a rock and a hard place at home with relatives.
And the golden child figured out that I was wrong for taking each breath and she used that righ tup to the day mom died.
SOrry, sis still does "therapy" to figure out how to "live with" the rest of us and our crazy making behaviors that ruin her life. I went to therapy with her once - at her costs. It was amazing the way all the stories were so twisted and skewwed to make her seem like a marrtyr.
