A Support Group for Adult Children of Alcoholics
I am new here.
I am the only NON-alcoholic/addict in my immediate family.
I no longer have a relationship with my sister due to her alcohol and drug induced episodes.
My mom died from an alcohol overdose at age 51 (almost 23 years ago now). I was 32 and 7 months pregnant with my last child.
Now I continue battling the emotional pain and destructive behavior of my 80 year old father's drinking. He has been alcoholic since long before I was born.
That is why I joined this group today . . .
I can't do anything for the alcoholics in my life (and frankly I no longer want to), but I can certainly take care of my own mental health!
I REFUSE to let them take me down with them!

I have been walked on a lot by the addicts in my family. Now that I have no tolerance left for their behavior and tell them so . . . it is causing a lot of friction. Especially with my father.

P.S. Yes ! I said COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like us a lot!! For instance..... we get things done.... and we´re
NICE!!! yes I said it... I´m proud to be an adult child of alcoholics... find a better bunch I dare ya!
