Adoption and Infertility Community Group
This group is for all of those who are going through the adoption process or considering adoption while dealing with infertility. You are welcome here whether continuing infertility treatment or stopping treatment during your adoption journey. This group is an open forum for us to discuss every aspect of adoption, from our hopes, and fears to details of the adoption...
I can understand why you'd want to take a break from social media.
I am very happy for you! That's so exciting that you're moving along in the adoption process. Please let us know how it goes.
That's what is so hard about this all - after years of IF, then the adoption process is a long waiting game too. And for me, everything seems to get put on hold because of money. It's always about money. Ugh! :/ Whoever said money doesn't buy happiness? I beg to differ! Thanks for letting me vent. :)
Best of luck to you!
Money does control so much of what we can and cannot do. And it is frustrating to have those limits. I have been with my husband 15 years, married almost 8 and we definitely thought we would have our family by now.
I do wish insurance covered more, and I wish adoption were more affordable. Not having enough money certainly makes this an even longer and bumpier road!
Good luck with your walk through on the 26th! I'm glad you're getting closer to building your family. :)
I'm 25w5d pregnant and our foster-to-adopt licensing process is on hold while we move. We were so close to the end of the process when we found the perfect house to move into - and we weren't sure the current house would even be able to be licensed anyway (townhouse with some things we're not allowed to change). Anyway, we're in that awkward stage of negotiating who is going to fix what from the inspection report and hope to be closing in May. We'll move in June, and the probably wait until after the baby gets here in late July / early August before we start the adoption back up again. As long as we get started again within a year of taking the class that we took back in February, we'll be good to go.
Hang in there, both of you! Hugs to you both!
I don't log on as often as I would like to. My DH and I decided today to update our adoption profile, I think we want to explore our possibilities since our homestudy is good for another year. I have to call my social worker from our first adoption to see what we need to do. In the meantime, we'll need to make lots of adjustments to be able to afford another adoption. I have no idea how we are going to do this. Hopefully I'll have more updates in a week or so!
smho6, Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. How was your social worker interview? I know they could be a little stressful. Hope everything went well.
Danielle, I understand your frustration, that's how I felt after I was done with fertility treatments. There was no money left for adoption! Hang in there, and feel free to vent that's why we are here. And I wish adoption would be more affordable too!
FrustratedPanda, congrats on your 26 weeks. It sounds like you guys have a plan. Keep us post it!
Weaping Wllow, this process is soo draining and unfair. hang in there we all have our hard days. It is ok to vent. I'm here if you need me. Keep us post it with your progress.
Sending all my love to everyone!
Weapingwillow, you would think they wouldn't want to drag their feet on finding a home for a child! I know most of them are overworked, but it should be a priority to get the process moving along. I hope things are going better for you. I always feel like once we take one step forward, we get pushed ten steps backwards. So I know where you're coming from!
Congrats, FrustratedPanda! I hope all goes well with moving. It's so stressful but exciting too!
Good luck with starting the adoption process for the second time, Bezuki! Hopefully it'll make it easier this time around since you already know what to expect. I hope you are able to afford it; let us know how it goes!
