Baby boy reclaimed after leaving hospital with him
treasuresinheaven
OMG! I can't believe we were so close. We went to Southern California and were there for the birth (actually a few days before). We named him (his legal name is the first and middle names we chose), held him, loved him, fed him, changed him, he was even released to us from the hospital. We drove 4.5 hours (3 hours until we reached my mom's house) and then we got the call, our worst adoption fears came true. We had to turn around and give our sweet baby boy back to his birth mother. Everyone was shocked, the agency, the social worker, the attorney. We left the hospital and she said she was 100% sure that this was what she wanted. Now we are empty arms again and broken hearts. I don't understand our path to becoming parents of live healthy baby(ies). The phone calls to tell everyone, the family, our friends, our employers.... Wow nothing to say, nothing to do, over $7000 spent on an attorney and social worker fees just for this adoption and that isn't what we paid for everything before we were matched, nor the lack of pay we have because our state does not pay leave for adoptive parents, or the cost of travel/hotel/etc. I don't think she realizes she has turned our lives upside down and we have NO baby. Please pray for us we are looking for comfort, peace and our forever baby.

OMG, I am so very sorry for the situation. That's an extremely hard pill to swallow, but I believe that every setback is a setup for something bigger and greater. This adds strength and resilience to your partnership/marriage with your husband. You're in my prayers, but God hasn't forgotten you.

My heart goes out to you and your husband. I truely hope your path leads you to peace and happiness. It takes so much strength, the path of infertility. Wishing you both all the hope in the world

Wow! I didn't know the birth mom could change her mind at the last minute like that. I'm so sorry to hear what you went through. I couldn't even imagine. Prayers for you and your husband.

Have you considered adoption through the county? It is just as risky with baby not getting to be yours but the cost is little to no cost. We did this and adopted our daughter 3 years ago. She was 5 days old. And we also got another baby girl last November which looked like she was going to be ours only to get the phone call 4 days later that the birthfather changed his mind and we had to give her back to him. I totally understand the pain and feeling of loss too. But we couldn't afford the cost of privet adoption so this is the route we took and like I said their are still risks but it helps if you can't afford the expense but still can get your forever baby.
