Hi all, I am new here and I would like to say hello. I have a super smart, handsome ADHD 7 year old. He is the best thing in my life. My husband doesnt believe that he has ADHD and thinks that our son should just get a spanking and punished and my husband is taking our sons listening issues as defiance and opposition as opposed to something that he cannot control. I am at my its end and would love to have another parent to speak to. Thank you all

This literally sounds like my life on a daily basis . My son is 7 and we have the same struggle its so hard because you want to make your child happy but don't want to give into everything but almost the second your ADHD child hears no it's like a switch flips at least for my son. And his doctors say it will get better but he's been on mess for over a month and idk....

While he can always get tested for ADHD by a doctor.
However as an ADHD person the impulsivity would be what would make him defiant and not care, but if it is ADHD it doesn't mean he doesn't care what you say the impulsivity of ADHD is very hard to control especially for a kid that doesn't know, because for people with ADHD its as natural as there eye color.
Here is some tips if you think he has a hard time focusing, a toy or smooth rock he can play with while sitting, or I used to do my homework on a medicine ball so I could bounce and rock while I did it.
