I am looking for any advice anyone can offer me. I have a 6 1/2 year old daughter with ADHD and weekday mornings are just "impossible". Every morning is a struggle to get her out of bed because she whines that she is "tired" or it's "cold" outside the covers, or "I hate school, I don't want to go". Then once out of bed she won't get dressed, then she won't brush her teeth or comb her hair, etc. The most she will do is come and take her meds. Every weekday morning is the exact same routine and it has been the exact same since Sept. when she started school. We have a checklist, and it we NEVER stray from it. Yet still there is the struggle, the procrastination, the arguing, the emotional breakdowns (both her and me).

Everything I read says "Create a Routine and stick to it" and "most parents give up too quickly on routines". I am so sick of reading that. We have a routine, it's always the same, we stick to it. We are clear and concise about what needs to get done and what our expectations are. We do as much as we can the night before. I give her plenty of time to get ready. We do not offer too many options in the morning. There are no other distractions like radios or TVs on in the morning. But still nothing works with her.

I am at my wits end. Most mornings I keep it together until I drop her off at school and then end up in tears all the way to work. I can't take it anymore. I dread mornings now, and my whole days is ruined by 7:30am. I end up late for work almost every day and I am so depressed and discouraged. I want to look forward to seeing her every morning and spending time with her, but I am coming to just dread it now. Then I have to deal with all the "mommy guilt" because I feel that way. She's fine once her meds kick in, but until then it's a nightmare.

Is anyone else going through this. I am doing everything I am "supposed" to and it's just not working.
