Lets share our axperiences with our kids what had woked what hasent and how our kids are similar and different with thier symptoms of adhd.Is medication a good choice? Or anyone trying any alternative as Drake institude to change the brain waver by neuro feedback?

Children losing weight while on ADHD meds

My son has lost almost 3 lbs in 1.5 months. He is 6, tall and thin. How do you get your children to eat when on the meds? His dose has been cut in half, but I'm afraid it won't be effective enough for in the classroom.

Our doctor gave our son an allergy pill where the side effect made him hungry. Plus we gave them half the med. in the summer and then eventually took them off during the summer. We did this with the doctor. I wouldn't have made any changes without the doctor. The allergy pill also helped his seasonal allergies.

As am adult with ADHD, I lost 40lbs when I started Adderall. I simply wasn't hungry and couldn't make myself eat until the medicine started to wear off in the evening. I made sure my sons and I had a snack after school and a full meal for dinner. There was a period of time we gave him a hearty breakfast before medicating.

Just to make things clear we have two sons. That are distant in age. At times we had one son on medicine and at other times both sons. That's why I refer to son--them--sons--
him.
