I have been diagnosed with ADHD 5 years ago because my son was diagnosed with it our physician got me tested.
I learned to cope with it my whole life, in the 80's they only were treating children who were causing "problems".
I was the quiet one who had a learning disability so they just said I was slower than others.
My mother would say that my mind goes away quite often which impaired my focus.
So I learned coping mechanism. I taught myself to read lips so I can stay focused. I started to write list and use a daily planner. Without a system in place I cannot function accurately.
There is ways to cope with ADHD, some people are able to live a quite successful and productive life without meds and some need to be medicated.
Medication can improve significatly the daily living.
I personally, wasnt succesful with being medicated. I felt like I was watching 10 loud tv all at the same time.
My son was taking the same meds and he was doing well with it.
I also got to be more understanding with his condition.
Concerta tends to give extreme tireness and dizziness and increase depression and mood swings in our case.
Everyone reacts differently.
We are all special in our own ways and have our own ways to contribute to society.
