One time I was pulled over going down a one way street the wrong way. Must have been in early 1970.
I was drunk as a skunk and stoned on pot to boot.
The officer asked me if I was lost and did not know the area very well. I lied and told him I did not know the area but thought I could find my way now.
To this day I just can't believe he let me go. From what I have heard jail time is mandatory just about everywhere now for the first offence!
Back in the day...they weren't tough on it...that is why you got away with it.
I smashed into a telephone pole at 16....police came...I was so drunk I fell asleep at wheel.....The WOMAN cop...just drove me to a friends.
They convinced me to go to hospital...I said NO..I can't pay for the ambulance or hospital...they told me I wouldn't have to...so I went....gash on head....
I got 150 dollar ticket for damaging the pole.....
I have a group of friends that get together every few months either to go out drinking or party at someone's house. One of them is a POLICE DECTEIVE!!!!!!!!!!
She sees how much everybody has and knows some of us are driving home with a bit too much to pass a breathalyzer!
Every time I get together with this gang I have Rich come pick me up after. I aint taking no chances!
But interesting is it not that this active duty police officer wont rat on her friends?
Well I suppose if a detective wants to HAVE any friends she does not want to make them afraid of her!
She took an oath...so obviously...or assumably...she has a problem :( too.
The worse thing I remember doing and I still have guilt over it, is when I was an hour away from home visiting a so called best friend. We had been drinking and she made a comment that I was just like my mother. Without any thought and a surprise to even me, I slapped her. Well, she told me to get my boys and get the hell out of her house. She didn't even consider that she was not just jeopardizing the people on the road, but she was jeopardizing my boys! They told me later that I almost hit a guard rail. By the grace of God, I got us home in one piece but I have never forgiven myself for that.
