Growing up as a fan of all sports... one of my earliest favorites were the Los Angeles Lakers.. with Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich, and Jerry West...

West was a shooting machine and one of my earliest fantasies... playing basketball at the city park I would often think of myself as Jerry West... so it was a shock to me to see he is an Adult Child... and it took him years to finally let go of the secrets...

I just began reading Ashley Judd's memoir, "All That is Bitter & Sweet." She is "one of us" as well, and has found healing in Al-Anon. She is now a tireless advocate on behalf of abused women around the world.

It really is heartbreaking isn't it? Inspiring but so heartbreaking. I had never heard of him (((Dave))) but I really identify with daring to let go of secrets and the depression that is somehow kind of 'always lurking' ready to pounce.
I hope to try and get that memoir from my library ((A1)) Though I hate anyone to suffer I always get tremendous comfort and feel connected and not so alone when I hear other Adult Children share things.
I feel blessed I was led to Alanon and Acoa.

The more I think about people like this it really is amazing... they entertain and make us happy and revel in their feats... yet on the inside they struggled deeply... though they may not have realized it but what a strong sense of self-worth
