The softer side of growing up in a dysfunctional home... a sanctuary to feel home with friends and never alone.
Friday, December 10th was my last day of work for 2010.... I am now officially on vacation till January 6, 2011... I just feel so relaxed and at peace. I've worked all year, saving my vacation and I am ready for a break.
I have spent all weekend washing clothes, cleaning out the fridge, and slowly starting to figure out what I am taking on my journey and what is questionable.... depending how much I can fit in my luggage.
The only thing I've got "major" left to do is called the taxi company which I will be doing Monday morning and calling my cell provider about possibly using my phone in Europe.
My flights? I leave Lincoln, Nebraska at 10:30 on Wednesday the 15th and arrive in Chicago at 12:45. Then leave at 2:30 for the long flight to Frankfurt, Germany arriving their at 5:45 AM on the 16th... then my final flight from there arrives in Manchester at 8:30 AM.
A long journey to get to this point will be reality this week. The really interesting part? This week throughout the world, we will be experiencing a "once in a lifetime" meteor shower. I should be flying over the Atlantic in the dark of night, possibly watching meteors around the sky.
I do hope to check in on my flight and say hi.... yes I went for a laptop battery instead of blue toes. *smiling* So I should be all set to go...
My biggest fear now? Wednesday morning sleeping through my alarm and missing my flight... or getting to the airport and forgetting something...

How exciting for you! I hope to hear about all your exploits. And a meteor shower to boot, what a send off!
I'm glad you went with the battery! Though the blue toes are pretty fun! ; ) My only suggestions, and not to be negative, pack your favorite cold medicine. And take less rather than more. Makes life easier. Don't stress out about not remembering everything. They have stores there!
