Happy birthday to you all.

I was surprised today to first get a birthday wish from my ex. Then shortly after that I was totally shocked and happy to get birthday wishes froma step-son and his family.

My step-kids have never been "just" stepkids. I always treated them, raised them, and loved them like they were my own flesh and blood. My marriage before this one hurt because when I got divorced the kids also divorced me saying that I was "only a stepdad." And it hurt a lot.

This time I had the same thoughts when I left... but I got a text today from him, his wife, and two grandkids. An unbelievably warm and wonderful birthday gift...

Wow what an abundance of birthdays and it so wonderful especially around this time of the year! Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day!
Oh yes i had to think about sharing the birthday with christmas and all.. hmm!
